What is ScrapConnect?

A.

ScrapConnect is an evolving scrap resource. It includes a secured system where users must have an account number, username, and password. This secured system provides detailed information regarding orders, shipments with frequent updates to status and ETA’s, mill weights, summary and detail level information, including voucher/payment history and detail.

ScrapConnect caters to shippers, consumers, and freight vendors. Customers can customize their experience by requesting and designing report options/views. The application is on its way to becoming interactive as a by-product of these customizable features.

Q.

How can ScrapConnect benefit me?

A.

Currently ScrapConnect has a number of features that will expedite account related questions regarding shipment/payment/contract details and status, thus eliminating follow up phone calls, email and faxing. In addition to account information, a variety of links are available to pertinent Internet sites are available. In the coming months, additional benefits will be layered into ScrapConnect.

Who should use ScrapConnect?

A.

Scrap Suppliers; Freight Companies; Scrap Consumers; Internet users with an interest in the Steel/Scrap Industry

How frequently is transaction detail updated?

A.

Contract, shipment and payment information is updated nightly, other pieces of information i.e. shipment ETA’s may be updated multiple times a day.

How can I register for services?

A.

You can contact your local business office.

Q.

How long does the registration process take?

A.

You should receive an immediate acknowledgement of your registration and within 5 business days receive your enrollment information.

Q.

Once set up with a username and password, is there any additional waiting period?

A.

No, as soon as you log in with you account #, username, and password.

Q.

If I forget my password what should I do?

A.

Go to the Contact Us section or use the following link and send us an email. If it is an "emergency" please contact our Help Desk at: help@djj.com

How can I contact the site developers or help desk with general, technical, and/or business related questions?

A.

What version/type of browsers are supported by ScrapConnect

A.

You can do just about everything on ScrapConnect using a Netscape or Microsoft internet browser version 4.0 or higher.  If you have a 3.0 or lower browser, you will be asked to make an upgrade. How do I upgrade?

If I receive a message indicating I have failed to log in, what should I do?

A.

Document the message and contact the Help Desk at help@djj.com or call us at (513)419-6350.

Is the username and/or password case sensitive

A.

No. Neither entry field is case sensitive

Q.

What is a cookie?

A.

A cookie is a small file written on your computer so you can have a customized experience as you move around from page to page.  Small bits of information are written and then deleted later.  

Q.

Should I make a practice of turning cookies on or off and how can I do this?

A.

Virtually every website uses cookies in some manner or another.  A good practice is to Enable Cookies unless you have a specific problem with a website.

Q.

What is a cache?

A.

A Cache is a "temporary" holding place for contents that might get used again.  Sometimes information may appear incorrect because your browser takes information from your cache instead of going out to the internet. It is a good practice to clear your cache often.
